Paul B. Crowley

Dr. Paul B. Crowley has been selected as the 2017 Grand Marshal of the Sussex County St. Patrick’s Day parade. He was born in Newark and raised in Nutley as the second oldest in a family of nine children by John Donegan Crowley and Mary Reed  Fitzpatrick; now deceased.

Dr. Crowley is a graduate of St. Mary’s School (Nutley), Essex Catholic High School, St. Peter’s College and Rutgers School of Dentistry. He has resided in Franklin Borough for 36 years with his wife, Carol.

Over the years, he has volunteered on many community boards and organizations, including 8 years as mayor and is a member of Immaculate Conception parish. Dr. Crowley is a dentist and also a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army Reserve.

He and Carol are the parents of 4 children, P. Brian Jr., Sharon, Margaret and son-in-law Nicholas Demsak, Patrick and grandparents of Máire, Cáolan and Áine.
On his father’s side his Crowley ancestors originate from County Cork and his grandmother Bessie Donegan was born at Edenderry, Co. Offaly to John Donegan and Margaret Walsh from Allenwood South, County Kildare.  On his maternal side, relatives include Fitzpatrick’s and McCabe’s from County Louth, Kerr’s and Doyle’s from Counties Tyrone and Monaghan; a sixth great grandfather Samuel Reed, born in Ireland, was designated as a patriot in the US Revolutionary War in  South Carolina.
